Cabin IV is an inviting one-bedroom log cabin perched on our 196-acre family farm in Fort Payne, Alabama. Designed for couples or small families, the cabin has a queen-size bed and a sleeper sofa to comfortably sleep four guests. Authentic log walls, exposed beams and hardwood floors create a warm, rustic atmosphere while modern comforts like central heat and air, a fully equipped kitchen and a clean, private bathroom make it easy to relax.

A cozy rock fireplace with gas logs anchors the living area, perfect for curling up with a book on cool evenings, and large windows look out over our pastoral fields and woods. The kitchen comes stocked with cookware, dishes, and appliances including a microwave, stove, refrigerator, toaster and coffee maker. Outside, a five-person hot tub on the covered porch invites you to soak under the stars, and there’s a charcoal grill and private firepit for cooking out and roasting marshmallows.

Your stay also includes linens, towels, satellite television and a washer/dryer for extended visits. Cabin IV’s peaceful setting is just a short stroll from our ponds and goat pastures, where you can watch friendly goats play and wander through hardwood groves. Whether you want a romantic weekend away or a quiet retreat, this cabin offers all the comforts of home in a spectacular Appalachian setting.

Unique Features

What sets Cabin IV apart is the intimate, cabin-in-the-woods feel paired with luxurious touches like the private hot tub and gas-log fireplace. Unlike cookie-cutter rentals, this cabin is hand-built from logs harvested on our property and furnished with antiques and family heirlooms for a true rustic charm. Large porches and big windows bring the outdoors in, so you never miss the morning mist rising over the pasture or the call of whip-poor-wills at dusk.

Because we only operate a few cabins on our farm, guests at Cabin IV enjoy plenty of privacy and open space. You’ll have your own yard surrounded by woods with easy access to hiking trails and fishing ponds. The hot tub sits beneath a covered porch, so you can relax in bubbling warmth rain or shine, and the campfire pit is stocked with firewood for purchase or you can bring your own. Combined with our friendly goats and mountainous views, Cabin IV offers an authentic back-to-nature escape.

Things To Do

Right outside your door you’ll find miles of walking trails that wind through our farm’s fields, forests and ponds. Take a morning stroll to watch the goats graze, fish for bream and bass in our stocked pond, or simply enjoy birdwatching and stargazing from your porch swing.

Cabin IV is also perfectly situated for exploring the natural wonders of Lookout Mountain. Little River Canyon National Preserve is just minutes away, offering dramatic canyon vistas, scenic drives, waterfalls, and swimming holes like the famed Hippie Hole. DeSoto State Park is a few miles farther, with hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and the stunning 104‑foot DeSoto Falls.

The charming mountain town of Mentone is close by, where you can visit quaint shops, art galleries and restaurants, or pick up fresh produce at the seasonal farmers market. In Fort Payne you’ll find the Alabama Walking Trail Park and the local country music heritage of the band Alabama. After a day of adventure, return to your cabin to soak in the hot tub and watch the sunset.

Reviews

We spent Labor Day weekend in Cabin IV and loved every minute. The cabin had everything we needed—plenty of linens, pots and pans, a comfy sleeper sofa and queen bed. The hot tub on the back porch was wonderful, the goats and pond were so much fun to explore, and the AC kept the cabin cool. We'll definitely be back! – Lisa & Mark, Montgomery
This cabin was the perfect getaway for us. We enjoyed sitting by the rock fireplace, soaking in the hot tub, and wandering the farm to see the goats and fish in the pond. Everything was clean and well‑stocked, and the owners were welcoming. – Sam & Emily, Huntsville
