Cabin III is a spacious 1850s log cabin that has been lovingly rebuilt on our family farm. Three bedrooms provide sleeping space for up to eight guests with a queen-size bed in the master bedroom, two full-size beds in the secondary bedrooms and a sleeper sofa in the living room. The open living/dining room invites everyone to gather around the rock fireplace or watch a movie on the cable television and VCR/DVD player. Central heat and air conditioning keep the cabin comfortable in every season, and there is a washer and dryer for your convenience.
You’ll feel right at home thanks to exposed log walls and rustic antiques combined with modern conveniences. The full kitchen is stocked with plates, glasses, utensils, pots, pans, a coffee maker, microwave and toaster, so you can cook anything from a hearty breakfast to a holiday dinner. Towels and linens are provided, and a 5‑person hot tub waits just outside the cabin for a soothing soak after a day of exploring.
Outside, a private porch offers views of the pasture and woods. Fire up the charcoal grill for a cookout or enjoy a fireside chat around the campfire ring (firewood available for purchase or bring your own). Because the cabin sits on a 196‑acre farm with cows, goats, rocks and a fishing pond, you’re welcome to wander the property and enjoy the peace and quiet of rural Alabama.
Cabin III’s generous size makes it perfect for larger families or friends traveling together. A five‑person hot tub sits beside the cabin for a soak after hiking, and the rock fireplace with gas logs creates a warm centerpiece on chilly nights. Central heat and air conditioning keep the cabin comfortable year‑round, and the full kitchen and washer/dryer make extended stays easy.
Privacy is another hallmark of this cabin. Set on a 196‑acre farm, the cabin is surrounded by pastures and woods with no neighbors in sight. Watch goats and cows graze, fish in the private pond, or simply relax on the porch and listen to the sounds of nature. Even though you’re just minutes from Little River Canyon and DeSoto Falls, you’ll feel worlds away from the crowds.
Start your adventure right on the property. Walk the trails through pastures and woodlands, feed the friendly goats or drop a line in the private fishing pond. Kids love collecting rocks and exploring the stream that winds through the farm, and evenings are spent around the firepit or soaking in the hot tub under a brilliant night sky.
Just beyond our gates, Lookout Mountain offers some of the best scenery in Alabama. Little River Canyon National Preserve is only minutes away; hike along the canyon rim to admire waterfalls, swim in natural pools, or join a ranger‑led program at the Little River Canyon Center. Nearby DeSoto State Park is home to miles of hiking and biking trails, wildflower meadows and the spectacular 107‑foot DeSoto Falls. True Adventure Sports can set you up with rappelling, climbing and zip‑line tours of the canyon, and anglers can cast their line in DeKalb County Public Fishing Lake.
When you’re ready for a change of pace, explore the area’s small towns. In Fort Payne you can visit the Alabama Fan Club and Museum honoring the country music band Alabama or browse the Depot Museum’s railroad exhibits. Take a scenic drive to Mentone to shop for local art, enjoy coffee at a café or attend seasonal festivals and craft fairs. In winter, the slopes at Cloudmont Ski Resort provide skiing and snowboarding—the only place to ski in Alabama!

Bear Creek Log Cabins is a family‑run business owned by Randy and Sandy Galloway and their daughter Jacey. After collecting several authentic 1800s log cabins, they moved them to their Lookout Mountain farm and rebuilt them as vacation rentals. The Galloways live on the property and personally manage each cabin; they welcome guests like friends, answer questions and share tips on where to hike, fish or dine. Because this is a small, locally owned operation, booking directly with the Galloways supports a family business and saves you third‑party fees. They take pride in offering clean, comfortable cabins with a personal touch and look forward to hosting your family on their farm.
