Cabin II is a cozy, hand‑hewn log cabin tucked away on our family’s 196‑acre farm outside Fort Payne. This two‑bedroom retreat sleeps five with a queen‑size bed in one room, a full‑size bed in the second, and a comfortable sofa in the living room. Warm log walls, a rock fireplace with gas logs, central heat and air conditioning, and a full bathroom with a washer/dryer provide all the comforts of home.

Prepare meals in the fully equipped kitchen complete with plates, glasses, silverware, pots and pans, a coffee maker, microwave, toaster, refrigerator and stove. Step out to the covered back porch and relax in your private five‑person hot tub, fire up the charcoal grill for dinner, or gather around the campfire pit under the stars. Towels and linens are provided, and the cabin offers cable television and a VCR/DVD player.

The cabin sits on a secluded corner of the farm with goats grazing nearby, a pond and miles of walking trails through woods and pastures. Yet you’re only minutes from Little River Canyon National Preserve and DeSoto State Park, making Cabin II the perfect base for couples or small families seeking privacy, comfort and adventure in Alabama’s Lookout Mountain region.

Unique Features

Handcrafted from native logs, Cabin II has a warmth and character you won’t find in modern builds. Tall picture windows fill the living room with natural light and frame views of woods and pastures, while exposed beams and rustic touches connect you to the land.

Guests love the private five‑person hot tub tucked under a covered porch, the stone fireplace with gas logs, and the sense of seclusion on our 196‑acre farm. You can watch goats graze, listen to owls and whip‑poor‑wills at night, and enjoy a sky full of stars—yet you’re still close to all the attractions of Lookout Mountain.

Things To Do

Spend your days exploring our 196‑acre farm. Stroll along shaded walking trails through forests and pastures, visit the friendly goats in the barnyard, cast a line in the catch‑and‑release pond or simply lounge on the porch and soak in the hot tub. Evenings are perfect for roasting marshmallows around the fire pit and watching the stars come out.

Just a few miles away, Little River Canyon National Preserve beckons with hiking trails, waterfalls and some of the deepest gorges east of the Mississippi. Take the scenic drive along the rim, hike down to the water’s edge, or snap photos at the many overlooks. DeSoto State Park offers more trails, swimming holes, kayaking and the 100‑foot DeSoto Falls.

For more adventure, head to Cloudmont Ski and Golf Resort for winter skiing or year‑round golfing, or explore Lookout Mountain’s other natural attractions like Mushroom Rock and Eberhart Point. The charming mountain town of Mentone is nearby with art galleries, antique shops, farmers markets and cozy cafés.

Fort Payne, just down the road, offers restaurants, shops, the Alabama Fan Club and Museum, and the country’s oldest depot museum. Day trips to Rock City, Ruby Falls and Chattanooga’s Tennessee Aquarium are also within reach for even more family fun.

Reviews

Peace and quiet on the farm! We stayed at Cabin II with our daughter and had everything we needed. The goats entertained us while we grilled supper, the beds were comfy and the hot tub under the stars was perfect. We loved walking the trails and sitting by the fire. We will definitely come back. – Michelle & Doug, Memphis TN.
The perfect getaway! Cabin II was spotless with all the kitchen items we needed. The queen bed and full bed were very comfortable and our toddler loved feeding the goats. The hot tub and porch swing were favorites. Sandy and the Galloway family were friendly and helpful. – Sarah & John, Birmingham AL.
